Ae Ra Cho, Young Mi Hong
Clin Exp Pediatr. 2004;47(6):656-664.   Published online June 15, 2004
Purpose : Kawasaki disease(KD) is a multisystemic inflammatory vasculitis of unknown etiology, but immunological abnormalities have been documented and implicated in the pathogenesis of KD. Matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs) have proteolytic activity against connective tissue proteins, and increased activity of MMPs and a quantitative imbalance between MMP and tissue inhibitor of MMP (TIMP) can result in several pathologic conditions. MMP and TIMP...

Ran Lee, So Hyun Park, Yu Jeong Kim, So Young Kim, Hyun Hee Kim, Wonbae Lee
Clin Exp Pediatr. 2004;47(5):567-573.   Published online May 15, 2004
Purpose : Kawasaki disease(KD) is an important acute febrile systemic vasculitis disease. Various cytokines have been studied to evaluate the pathogenesis of vascular injury. Some cytokines have been implicated for vascular injury, but there has been no direct evidence. We compared cytokine profiles of KD with Henoch-Sch nlein purpura(HSP), and febrile infections. Methods : We investigated the serum concentrations of...

Clin Exp Pediatr. 1995;38(8):1141-1145.   Published online August 15, 1995
Subacute necrotizing lymphadenitis (Kikuchi's disease) is an increasingly recognized cause of cervical lymphadenitis since it has been described by Japanese doctors in 1972. It generally follows a benign course, when symptoms and signs of the disease are resolved usually within 1 to 6 months. We experienced a case of subacute necrotizing lymphadenitis in a 12 year-old boy with atopic bronchial asthma...

Forty six children with mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome were diagnosed and treated through admission at the Department of Pediatrics, Wallace Memorial Baptist Hospital from January 1987 to January 1990. Ther were investigated for clinical pattern and laboratory correlations. The results were as follows: 1) Most patients (95.7%) were under four years of the age. 2) The ratio of male to female was 1.6:1. 3) Seasonal incidence was high in...

Clin Exp Pediatr. 1990;33(3):386-392.   Published online March 31, 1990
We experienced a case of endobronchial tuberculosis accompanied by an embedded lymph node in a 1 3/12-year old male who was admitted to the Department of Pediatrics, Yonsei University College of Medicine. On bronchogram, a punched out defect was noted at the site of the right main bronchus from where the right upper lobe bronchus and right intermediate bronchus branched. Although bronchoscopy was performed three...

The one-hundred-forty nine children with mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome who were diagnosed and treated through admission at the Department of Pediatrics, Hanyang University Hospital from July 1977 to January 1989, were investigated for clinical patterns and laboratory , correlations. The results are as follows: 1) Most patients (84.5%) were under 4 years of the age. 2) Boys were more prevalent than girls, as a ratio of 1.9:1. 3) Seasonal incidence...

Clin Exp Pediatr. 1988;31(6):796-802.   Published online June 30, 1988
Mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome was first described as a new clinical disease by Kawasaki in Japan in 1967. Recently, there have been numerous reports of this disease throughout the world and mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome has become familiar to the pediatrician. Complications previously described include coronary arteritis, carditis and gall bladder hydrops, aseptic meningitis and arthritis. We experienced 1 case of mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome...

We experienced 1 case of mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome complicated by aseptic meningitis, hydrops of the gallbladder and dilatation of the coronary arteries in 2 year 8 month old female infant. Her clinical synptoms, laboratory data and clinical courses were presented with brief review of the literatures. This baby admitted because of high fever and vomiting for 6 days. She had injection of...

Yang Ho Park, Jin Keun Chang, Sung Sook Cho, Keun Chan Sohn
Clin Exp Pediatr. 1984;27(12):1218-1222.   Published online December 31, 1984

Acute hydrops of the gallbladder is described in one patient who had mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome. During the course of her illness, acute addominal pain, vomiting and right upper guadrant tenderness were developed. Diagnosis was readily made with ultrasonography, and the patient was followed with this te-chnique. We managed her conventionally without surgical intervention. The galbladder returned to normal size...

The superficial lymph nodes may be enlarged in consequence of biologic or non-biologic antigenic stimuli, lymphoreticular maligna ntneoplasm, metastatic tumor or infiltrative disorders such as histiocytosis-X, and biopsy of the enlarged superficial lymph node is a time-honored diagnostic, therapeutic and follow-up tool. At present it is performed with ease and wideness. But in Korea there is no comprehensive studies about...
